Certification of Airfilters

Certification of Airfilters

The certification of air filters is currently carried out by UL for flammability and volatile organic compounds (VOC) emissions. The UL 900 certification program assesses the smoke generation and the combustibility characteristics of air filter units. The Greenguard Certification from UL Environment ensures that certified products meet some of the world's most rigorous standards for low emissions of VOCs into indoor air.

Classification of Airfilters

The North American market uses the ASHRAE 52.2 Standard in order to measure and classify coarse and fine dust filters. The international standard used to classify fine dust filters, is the ISO 16890. As a multi-national company, Freudenberg Filtration Technologies utilizes both standards for many products, depending on the local market. The revised ISO 29461-1 standard classifies air filters for the intake air filtration of turbomachinery.
