Freudenberg filters for the world’s largest cruise ship

Naantali/Finland, Sep 4, 2009

Freudenberg's Viledon air filters will be on board when the world’s largest cruise ship makes its maiden voyage this December. Up to 5,400 passengers will then be able to enjoy their Caribbean vacation in the luxury of the 360-meter “Oasis of the Seas” owned by Royal Caribbean Cruise Line. This very special ship has much to offer: an AquaTheater, its own beach pool, a Central Park with pathways, rock-climbing walls and promenades inspired by the seaside piers typically found along the English coastline.

The luxury liner is being built in Finland by the international STX Europe Cruise shipyard. More than 1,000 Viledon filters manufactured by Freudenberg Filtration Technologies will be installed on the ship for a variety of purposes such as air conditioning, humidity control and in the engine room. The filter mounting frames are also being supplied by Freudenberg Filtration Technologies. Freudenberg filters have already proved their ocean-going capabilities. They have been successfully installed on the “Liberty of the Seas”, a cruise ship that accommodates 3,600 passengers, since 2007. “The nonwoven filters produced by Freudenberg have excellent moisture resistance characteristics and a long service life as well as noise insulation properties,” explains Kimmo Eromäki, Managing Director of Freudenberg Filtration Technologies Finland Oy, who manages the project with remarkable dedication.
